Chief Health Officer (CHO) of the Public Health Department, Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), S.S. Madani has directed health officials to step up preventive measures against dengue with the onset of the monsoon season.The CHO has requested citizens to be aware of symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, and intense muscle and joint pain.Residents have been asked to ensure that water does not stagnate in containers.Mr. Madani urged people to properly dispose of waste materials such as used tyres, coconut shells, bottles and other objects that can collect rainwater. “Residents must contact doctors, health staff or ASHA workers at government hospitals if they develop fever or dengue-like symptoms,” he said, calling on communities to follow the “Check, Clean and Cover” approach to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
