CM Vijay holds thanksgiving meeting in TiruchiAddressing his maiden rally after assuming office as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, TVK president Vijay slammed the DMK for persistently criticising him and his party and alleged that the DMK’s “family politics” was the reason for the Dravidian major’s defeat in the April 23 Assembly election.Mr. Vijay was speaking at St. Joseph College ground in Tiruchi during an event organised to thank the people of Tiruchi East constituency from where he was elected apart from Perambur in Chennai. Mr. Vijay has since resigned as MLA of Tiruchi East and byelection is due for the constituency.2. AIADMK functionary ends life citing distress over party infightingA 37-year-old AIADMK functionary, Mahendiran, was found dead at Pallur hamlet in Thanjavur district. He reportedly ended his life after being upset over the recent splits and infighting within the AIADMK.Following his death, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami visited the bereaved family and announced a solatium of ₹55 lakh.In a social media post, Mr. Palaniswami urged his party members not to carry out “undesirable and depressing” acts in the wake of the organisation’s defeat in the Assembly election. 3. Policeman suspended pending inquiry into sexual harassment of woman copA mid-level police officer formerly attached to Arumuganeri police station has been placed under suspension following the launch of an inquiry into alleged sexual harassment of a woman head constable, who is now attached to the Singappen Special Task Force (SSTF).According to sources, the woman head constable who had joined the SSTF on May 28 was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment through text messages while she was serving at Arumuganeri police station.
