France is set to unveil a 'heritage pass' that will give visitors access to hundreds of the country's most beautiful and historic sites.

France’s Culture Minister Catherine Pégard has announced the launch of a pass patrimoine (heritage pass), which will allow visitors to visit hundreds of monuments, museums or castles.

This pass is expected to be launched during the European Heritage Days on September 19th and 20th, the minister said. Its price, which has yet to be confirmed in September, is expected to be “around €100” per year.

According to the Fondation du patrimoine, the pass will allow visitors “to visit nearly 500 monuments, museums, chateau and gardens” for free.

The list of sites includes some of France's most famous, but also those less well-known to the general public
