Retail inflation, based on Consumer Price Index rose to 3.93 per cent in May as against 3.48 per cent of April, Government reported on Friday.Here are highlights:- Inflation rates for rural and urban are 4.25 per cent and 3.53 per cent, respectively- Year-on year food inflation, based on Consumer Food Price Index, in May, 2026 is 4.78 per cent. Corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 4.85 per cent and 4.66 per cent respectively.- Year-on-year Housing inflation rate for the month of May, 2026 is 2.12 per cent and the corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 2.73 per cent and 1.91 per cent, respectively.Published on June 12, 2026
