Tinubu also issued a stern warning to bandits, kidnappers, and the sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria, declaring that the windows of amnesty and surrender are closing, and that those who finance instability will be made to "pay dearly" by the full force of the state.
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that though the country is facing hardship and difficulties, the country cannot break, saying "Nigerians do not break. We bend, we bleed, but we do not break."
Tinubu also issued a stern warning to bandits, kidnappers, and the sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria, declaring that the windows of amnesty and surrender are closing, and that those who finance instability will be made to "pay dearly" by the full force of the state.
The President made these declarations during his national broadcast on Friday morning to commemorate the 2026 Democracy Day, marking 27 years of civilian governance in Nigeria since the historic return to democracy on May 29, 1999.
Reflecting on the historical weight of June 12, President Tinubu described the date as a sacred chapter in Nigeria's national memory, paying tribute to Chief M.K.O. Abiola and other pro-democracy icons who sacrificed their lives to build the democratic foundation the nation enjoys today.
