In an article a couple of days ago about AI and the government’s role in its ownership and profits, Steve Hanley shared that Elon Musk recently wrote the following: “Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI.” I almost couldn’t believe that was a real quote, so I looked it up. Indeed, here’s the post, which includes a couple more major claims as well:
Now, it’s one thing to think some of the things here … like AI and robotics ending inflation. But the more shocking thing (maybe) is that Musk’s proposal here is so much against other things he has promoted or done.
USAID couldn’t send a minimal amount of money to those starving and suffering in the world’s worst conditions, and it couldn’t provide minimal virus protection services, because of some wild assumption that the whole USAID organization was corrupt, but Musk wants everyone to get “HIGH INCOME” checks when AI and robots supposedly do all the work?
