And most other key specs remain unchanged for the new model. But there are a few key upgrades: the new model has 50% more memory and adds support for an optional InkSense Plus stylus, allowing you to use the BOOX Go 6 (Gen II) as both an eReader and an E Ink tablet for taking notes. The new model is available for pre-order now for $200 and it’s expected to start shipping June 16.Features that haven’t changed include the device’s Qualcomm octa-core processor with support for frequencies up to 2GHz, 32GB of built-in storage, 1500 mAh battery, support for dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, and a microSD card reader and USB Type-C OTG port. And like its predecessor, the Onyx BOOX Go 6 (Gen II) ships with an operating system based on Android 11, which is a little disappointing at a time when Android 17 is scheduled for release soon. But it’s worth keeping in mind that this device isn’t really meant for use as a general purpose Android tablet. It has a heavily customized user interface designed to put reading and writing front and center while accommodating the black and white E Ink display with a slow screen refresh rate.Android does come in handy if you want to load third-party eBook stores or other applications though, and some newer apps may not support older versions of Android. And Android 11 was released in 2020, so it would be nice if this 2026 eReader shipped with something at least a little more recent than that. That said, as I mentioned, the new model does have a few improvements. With 3GB of RAM instead of 2GB, Onyx says the “reading and notetaking experience is smooth and responsive.”The pen supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt detection, has a replaceable stylus tip, and a shortcut button on the side. There’s an 80 mAh battery inside and a USB-C port for charging, and the pen has a G-sensor that automatically wakes it from sleep when it’s in motion. In addition to the Onyx BOOX Go 6 (Gen II), the pen is compatible with the BOOX Go 10.3 (Gen II), BOOX GO Color 7 (Gen II) and Palma 2 Pro.The InkSense Plus stylus sells for $42 if you buy it separately, but Onyx is currently offering an Onyx BOOX Go 6 (Gen II) bundle that lets you get an eReader, stylus, and protective case for $233.The Onyx BOOX Go 6 (Gen II) measures 149 x 109 x 6.8mm (5.87″ x 4.29″ x 0.27″) and weighs 160 grams (5.64 ounces).
