Bus traffic from Ukraine to Poland at the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint will not be suspended despite planned repairs, according to Ukraine’s minister of community and territorial development, Oleksiy Kuleba. Kuleba said a consensus has been reached with Polish authorities, calling the border crossing “one of the busiest checkpoints for passenger traffic between our countries.” He said repairs would continue but would not affect bus traffic. “After negotiations between the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Poland, with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland, an agreement was reached: Bus traffic through the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint will not be stopped during the summer season, even during repair work,” he wrote on Facebook. Kuleba thanked the Ukrainian diplomatic staff and the Polish authorities for their work. The Shehyni-Medyka crossing, located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) west of Lviv, is one of nine road checkpoints between Poland and Ukraine.
