Blink49 Studios has unveiled an exclusive first-look deal with Andrew Phung and Scott Townend, co-creators of the lighthearted comedy Run the Burbs that ran on The CW. Under the multiyear agreement, Blink49 Studios will work with the creative partners to develop and produce new scripted and unscripted TV series for the global market.
“Andrew and Scott have established themselves as distinctive creative voices with a proven ability to connect with audiences through authentic and engaging storytelling. Supporting Canadian creators and helping bring their stories to wider audiences has been an important part of Blink49 since day one, and Andrew and Scott are exactly the kind of talented, entrepreneurial partners we love working with,” Pancho Mansfield, president, global scripted television at Blink49 Studios, said in a statement.
Run the Burbs, which ran for three seasons to 2024, followed the Phams, a Vietnamese-South Asian-Canadian family with a comedic take on life in the fictional city of Rockridge. Fifth Season, a strategic partner for Blink49 Studios, distributed the Canadian sitcom.
Phung, who had a breakout role in Kim’s Convenience, also executive produced and starred in Run the Burbs as Andrew Pham. Townend also executive produced the Canadian comedy.
