Thousands of Malawian foreign nationals at Sherwood Hall grounds.

Rows of white marquees at Sherwood Hall serve as temporary shelter for displaced Malawian nationals seeking to return home amid escalating violence.

The temporary shelter has become a refuge for the foreign nationals who fled their homes in Clare Estate amid growing tensions and violence directed at foreign nationals.

Azhar Vice Bennett, a community activist who is helping with the housing of the Malawians said: “Everything is in order and everyone here has the basic necessary items that we have strived to acquire over the last few days.

“All we need now is to accumulate private funding for buses to take them to the border which is unfortunately not a small amount of money. Transportation that the government may not provide on time.
