The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while condemning last night's U.S. attacks on Iranian territory, declared that these actions constitute a "clear violation of the United Nations Charter and fundamental rules of international law" and have effectively rendered the April 7, 2026, ceasefire between Tehran and Washington "meaningless."

The Foreign Ministry's statement noted that the United States will be held responsible for the consequences of these attacks, adding that certain regional countries also participated in what Tehran termed "aggressive actions" by making their territory and facilities available. Citing the right to "legitimate defense," the ministry emphasized that the Islamic Republic will respond to these attacks and called on the United Nations to show a serious reaction to the recent developments.

Concurrently, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the commencement of retaliatory operations, declaring that it had targeted the "Al-Azraq" airbase in Kuwait by firing 12 ballistic missiles. The IRGC claimed that key U.S. military facilities, operational control centers, and equipment stationed at the base were hit in the attack.
