This remote Colorado compound will have you yelling “Timber!”
The property, aptly christened Tall Timber, sprawls across an impressive 200 acres amid the San Juan National Forest. With no public road access, the retreat is incredibly private. To arrive at the estate, you have to fly in via helicopter or take a private rail car. If you opt for a chopper, you can land on site, then park your ride in a private 10,000-square-foot hangar at the nearby Durango airport. Your pilot can post up there, as well, since it comes with an attached apartment.
An old-fashioned soda shop is one of the more unique amenities.

Dating back to 1907, the property was once used as a luxury wilderness resort. As such, it has a campus-like feel, with plenty of features that nod back to its history. Think an old-fashioned soda shop and ice-cream parlor, with red-vinyl booths and a jukebox for throwing on some oldies. There’s also a vintage-style barbershop.
