Image: Dani Branthin / YleYle NewsSTT14:58Finnish-grown early potatoes, sometimes called 'first earlies', and strawberries will be available for Midsummer dinners next week, according to the agricultural group Pro Agria.It reports that farms have already harvested the early spuds for some time now, and will be available from many regions by Midsummer.This long weekend holiday begins on Midsummer Eve, on Friday 19 June.The first open-field cucumbers, early cabbages, and garden peas have also come to market, alongside bunched vegetables.According to Pro Agria, field vegetables have grown quickly due to the warm conditions.Meanwhile, strawberries and raspberries raised in growing tunnels are also available.The group said that the first open-field strawberries are now being harvested in the southwestern parts of the country, and that the main open-field harvest season is expected to begin around Midsummer.
