Actor Anupam Kher recently shared a personal experience from a flight that left him reflecting on how quickly people form opinions about others. In a post on social media, the veteran actor recalled meeting a fellow passenger named David during a journey from Goa to Mumbai. What started as a casual observation soon turned into a lesson about kindness, empathy, and the dangers of making assumptions based on appearances.Sharing the incident with his followers, Kher explained that the encounter took place while he was travelling from Goa to Mumbai. According to the actor, David boarded the flight and immediately attracted attention from several passengers because he was overweight. David later took a seat across the aisle from Kher.As the flight progressed, Kher noticed David opening his bag and pulling out what appeared to be a large collection of chocolates and sweets. Soon after, David got up and walked toward the washroom, leaving the bag behind.Seeing the chocolates, Kher admitted that he instantly assumed they were meant for David himself. Reflecting on his reaction, he wrote, “He shouldn’t eat so much sweets and chocolates!” He said the comment was made out of concern.The passenger sitting next to David responded with a smile and remarked, “Well, that’s probably why he looks the way he does.”At that point, both men appeared to have reached the same conclusion without knowing anything about David's story.The gesture that changed everythingA short while later, David returned to his seat. To Kher's surprise, he collected all the chocolates and sweets and handed them over to the cabin crew members.The actor admitted he had not expected that. Curious and somewhat embarrassed by his earlier assumption, Kher decided to speak to David directly.He told him, “I must confess, I thought you were going to eat all those chocolates yourself, and that’s why you were overweight.”Instead of taking offence, David responded warmly. He explained, “ I don’t blame you for thinking like that! I have a medical condition. But I used to work with airlines, and I know what cabin crew members go through every day.
