While police were at the scene, a Black Mercedes crashed into a marked police car.‌The driver of the Mercedes – a 73-year-old man – was arrested following the incident. Officers from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation.Northumbria Police said: "A police officer has tragically died in the line of duty after a collision in Northumberland.
