A controversial request to consider fencing off Barbara Hall Park in the Church-Wellesley Village at night, as a solution to increasing violence and vandalism within, is off the table.

Local councillor Chris Moise had proposed asking staff to consult the public and report back on the feasibility of closing the park overnight after years of lobbying from people living nearby, some of whom told the Star crime and drug use there has escalated since the pandemic.
