The number of injured people from the mass shooting at the Jumpers informal settlement in Cleveland, Johannesburg that claimed 12 lives has risen to 15, Gauteng police confirmed.

The shooting which has sent shockwaves across the community and left residents reeling from shock occurred on Tuesday night.

Twelve people were shot and killed, while ten others were injured and taken to hospital.

The shooting is believed to be linked to the fight over illegal mining activities in the area.
