Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced early on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz had been closed to all types of vessels in what it described as the first response to a new US attack.

Iranian media quoted the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, the military body responsible for managing wartime operations in the Iranian armed forces, as saying that the Strait of Hormuz had been closed to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships.

The headquarters warned that “any vessel attempting to pass through will be fired upon”, according to the same sources.

On Wednesday evening, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the start of new strikes against several targets inside Iran.
