Port of Patras participates in dialogue on the future of ports and shippingThe Chairman and CEO of Patras Port Authority S.A. (OLPA), Panagiotis G. Anastasopoulos, participated in the Posidonia 2026 international shipping exhibition, Greece’s leading maritime industry event, representing the organisation and highlighting the upgraded role of the Port of Patras in the evolving landscape of maritime transport, logistics and port development.During the exhibition, Anastasopoulos held a series of high-level meetings with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Vassilis Kikilias, and the President of the Union of Greek Shipowners Melina Travlou, as well as government officials, ambassadors, members of diplomatic missions, and senior representatives of the Greek and international shipping community.Discussions focused on the strategic prospects of the Port of Patras as a key gateway between Greece, Western Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, the strengthening of cargo flows, the further development of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax connections, and the need to accelerate investment in green, digital and modern port infrastructure.Particular emphasis was placed on development projects and strategic priorities outlined in the Master Plan, including the strengthening of the Southern Port’s commercial role, rail connectivity, the potential development of cruise activity, the positioning of Patras within emerging maritime corridors, and the implementation of the Patradise Yacht Marina project. The latter is described as a flagship initiative aimed at upgrading the waterfront and supporting local and regional economic growth.Anastasopoulos underlined that the Patras Port is pursuing a structured and consistent strategy, based on institutional responsibility and operational discipline, with the objective of transforming the Port of Patras into a modern, competitive and outward-looking maritime hub.“Its presence at Posidonia 2026 confirms that the Port of Patras is actively participating in the dialogue on the future of ports and shipping,” he said. “Through targeted planning, investment and partnerships, we are working to turn Patras’ strategic location into a tangible development asset.”
