Chief Samuel Mashaba, the Chief Provincial Inspector of Gauteng Traffic Police, will be cross-questioned at the Madlanga Commission on Thursday.

The Madlanga Commission will on Thursday resume the testimony of Chief Samuel Mashaba, Chief Provincial Inspector of Gauteng Traffic Police. He will be cross-questioned on the statement that he read into the record on Wednesday.

Mashaba’s testimony forms part of the Commission’s inquiry into drug busts and related allegations of wrongdoing and criminality, with a focus on the R300 million Aeroton bust in Gauteng.

Mashaba is one of the four law enforcement officers who were arrested at the drug bust scene by Hawks members for dealing in drugs. He accused Major General Feroz Khan, the deputy head of Crime Intelligence and head of Counter and Security Intelligence, of interference, stating that Khan did not get the briefing from them.

He stated that Khan stopped everything, and the scene fell into chaos. He also highlighted their poor treatment while in custody.
