Preparatory works are being undertaken to facilitate traffic diversion for the execution of sewerage infrastructure projects on Madhavaram - Red Hills Road.Sewer pipeline would be laid upto a distance of two km on Madhavaram - Red Hills Road as part of the ₹685.54-crore sewerage projects covering Madhavaram, Vadaperumbakkam, Theeyambakkam, Mathur, and Puzhal, said a press release.Given the heavy traffic movement on the corridor, including heavy vehicles, Chennai Metrowater Managing Director T. Anand reviewed arrangements required for execution of works, without causing inconvenience to residents, along with the officials of State Highways department and the Police department.He directed Metrowater officials to commence the work immediately after obtaining necessary clearances from the police and highways departments. He also emphasised inter-departmental coordination to ensure speedy completion of projects and public safety measures.Mr. Anand later inspected works to build a sewage pumping station in Madhavaram Milk Colony Road and works to replace sewer lines for 3.5 km between Red Hills and Madhavaram at a cost of ₹16.4 crore. He also instructed officials to begin sewer work on arterial roads in Red Hills only after preparatory measures, including arrangements for traffic management.C.
