Alex Iwobi is set to become the fourth player in the history of Nigeria’s Super Eagles to earn 100 international caps. The Fulham midfielder, who has 99 appearances heading into an international friendly against Portugal, will hit the milestone during the match scheduled for June 10 or 11, 2026, at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria, Portugal.

Only three players have ever worn the green and white 100 times before him: Ahmed Musa, Joseph Yobo, and Vincent Enyeama.

A decade in the making

Iwobi made his Super Eagles debut as a teenager back in 2015. That means this particular journey has stretched across more than ten years of consistent international selection.

The 30-year-old was born in England, which meant he faced the kind of decision that shapes an entire career. He chose Nigeria, and has stated he has “no regrets” about choosing to represent the Super Eagles over England.
