OTTAWA—The federal government is still searching for a new international climate change envoy after leaving the role vacant for more than a year, amid concerns from environmental groups about the rollback of policies to cut greenhouse gas emissions under Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Jenna Ghassabeh, a spokesperson for Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin, confirmed to the Star that the government is “actively in the process” of finding a new climate ambassador and expects to name someone to the position “relatively soon.”
