The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday said all FL2 licensed clubs should issue membership identity cards to their registered members and liquor should be served only to registered members and their eligible guests in accordance with the applicable rules and licence conditions.According to an official release from the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, specific directions have been issued to all FL2 and FL3 licensed bars and clubs under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Liquor (Licence and Permit) Rules, 1981.The prescribed working hours of FL2 and FL3 bars should be strictly adhered to without any deviation. In FL2 licensed clubs, the operation of a bar should remain only one of the permitted activities. Club managements should ensure that the other recreational, cultural, sports, and social activities for which the clubs are established are conducted regularly and effectively, the release said.Liquor should not be sold, supplied, issued, or served to any person below 21 years of age. In cases where the age of a person is doubtful, valid documentary proof of age shall be verified before serving liquor, the release said.All licence holders have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the above instructions. Any violation of the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, the rules, or the licence conditions would be viewed seriously and would attract appropriate action, the release added.
