Coimbatore City Police on Friday instructed operators of ‘FL3’ and ‘FL2’ licensed bars and clubs in Coimbatore to ensure that their businesses are run with complete compliance with the norms of their licensing authoritiesIn a meeting organised for these licence holders on Friday (June 5), City Police Commissioner N. Kannan instructed that alcohol should not be sold to persons under the age of 21 in any manner. If a person’s age is under question, it should be verified with Aadhaar card or other valid identification documents.Bar employees must take adequate precautionary measures to ensure that no untoward incidents take place on their premises. The police must be alerted in the event of any unexpected incident. Surveillance cameras must be installed and properly maintained to deal with brawls and law-and-order problems.Bars and clubs were told to arrange parking facilities for customers. Vehicles of customers should not cause any traffic congestion.Staff at bars and clubs should monitor whether their customers bring contraband substances and banned products to their premises. Such activities, if noticed, should reported to the police immediately.Sale of alcohol should strictly be confined to the permitted business hours.
