The rescue occurred on Sunday, 7 June, after the Coastguard alerted Serenity Farne Island Boat Tours to the missing dog. The tour boat dropped off its passengers and joined the search for the German Shepherd. Captain Jimmy Reid located Bruce approximately 2.2 nautical miles north of Bamburgh Beach. Footage captured the rescue, and Bruce was subsequently reunited with his owners ashore.
