AFC Bournemouth finalized the loan signing of goalkeeper Christos Mandas from Serie A side SS Lazio on January 27, 2026. The deal brings the 24-year-old Greek shot-stopper to the Premier League for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, with a reported loan fee of €1.5 million, roughly £1.3 million.
The contract includes an option to buy Mandas for approximately £16 million. That option could become an obligation depending on performance metrics or whether Bournemouth qualifies for European competition.
The details of the deal
Mandas, born on September 17, 2001, joined Lazio back in 2023 but found first-team minutes hard to come by. Limited appearances in Serie A meant the young goalkeeper was spending more time watching than playing.
Bournemouth moved decisively to secure him despite competition from other Serie A clubs. Both Torino and Fiorentina were reportedly interested in the Greek keeper before the Cherries swooped in and closed the deal. Mandas will wear squad number 29 at the Vitality Stadium.
