The directive, issued on Wednesday, came after the State Security Service (SSS) raised the alarm over an alleged plot by suspected bandits to target schools in Edo North Senatorial District.

The Edo State government has ordered the immediate closure of three secondary schools in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area following fresh intelligence reports of a planned mass abduction of schoolchildren in the state.

The directive, issued on Wednesday, came after the State Security Service (SSS) raised the alarm over an alleged plot by suspected bandits to target schools in Edo North Senatorial District.

The affected schools are; Ososo Grammar School, Ososo Comprehensive High School, and Makeke Secondary School.

The closure was contained in a circular dated Tuesday and issued by the Edo State Ministry of Education, signed by its Permanent Secretary, Enodolomwanyi Otamere.
