The company claims its new package addresses power fluctuations associated with AI workloads at the grid connection point, providing instantaneous inertia and dynamic reactive power to stabilize voltage and frequency in real time.
The fully integrated solution combines a synchronous condenser, flywheel, starting system, lube-oil system, cooling options, e-house, and optional noise enclosure in a standardized package. The flywheel is designed specifically for electrical network stabilization and includes an integrated safety enclosure, removing the need for additional safety barriers. ABB says the single-source delivery across mechanical, electrical, and control systems reduces on-site complexity and shortens installation timelines.
For operators, ABB claims that the package offers faster time to operation through its modular design, simplified grid approval by addressing stability requirements upfront, and scalable capacity growth without requiring core power system redesigns.
