Watching the World Cup at a bar should be about the football. For a lot of women in France, it hasn’t always been that simple. Her Game Too France is trying to change that with a new anti-sexism program targeting bars and venues screening matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which runs from June 11 to July 19.
The initiative invites establishments to sign up as “Bars Partenaires,” essentially positioning themselves as venues where female patrons can watch the tournament without worrying about harassment.
What the program actually involves
Participating bars will receive staff training focused on creating a welcoming and secure environment for women and girls watching matches. Beyond training, the program establishes formal mechanisms for reporting incidents of sexism or violence.
The model borrows from the UK’s “safe space” pub concept, which Her Game Too’s original British branch has been refining since 2021. Her Game Too France, founded in 2022 as the movement’s French counterpart, is now adapting that framework specifically for World Cup viewing culture.
