Meta Platforms Inc.

(NASDAQ:META) is partnering with Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries to develop its first AI-enabled data center in India, as the Facebook parent accelerates its global artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout.

Reliance said Wednesday it will build a 168-megawatt facility in Jamnagar, Gujarat, that Meta will lease upon completion.

The project is expected to be delivered within two years and includes options for future expansion.

The data center will support Meta's global infrastructure and AI computing requirements, underscoring the growing importance of India — one of Meta's largest markets by users — to the company's long-term AI strategy.
