Meta is planting its first AI data center flag in India, and it’s doing so with the country’s most powerful conglomerate as its landlord.

The social media giant has struck a deal with Reliance Industries Limited to develop a 168 MW AI-enabled data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Reliance will build the facility, and Meta will lease it.

What the deal actually looks like

Reliance is handling the heavy lifting here: design, construction, connectivity, and end-to-end services for the facility. Delivery is expected within two years.

The data center will incorporate renewable energy sources, which matters when you’re talking about 168 megawatts of power consumption.
