Supporters give Francois Janse van Rensburg a hero's welcome when he arrived in Somerset West on Saturday.
After spending 43 days walking more than 1 500km from Windhoek in Namibia to Somerset West, 63-year-old Francois Janse van Rensburg has raised over R100 000 for the Somerset West Family and Night Shelter.
He embarked on the Walk the Talk fundraising campaign to help fund the shelter’s operations and planned growth.
The long-distance walk marked Janse van Rensburg's second major fundraising challenge for the shelter.
In 2024, after developing a heart condition that forced him to give up running, he walked from Somerset West to Gqeberha, raising about R65 000 for the organisation.
