A proposal to launch proceedings that could ultimately result in the banning of the pan-European political party Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN) will be debated in the European Parliament next week, according to reporting by Politico and ClubZ.

The discussion among leaders of the political groups may also lead to a vote on whether the formal procedure should move forward. The case is described as unprecedented and is closely linked to scrutiny surrounding the Bulgarian party "Revival" (Възраждане), which plays a central role in the allegations under review.

The Authority for European Political Parties and European Political Foundations (APPF) has produced a 300-page report forming the basis of the request. The authority argues that there are concerns over whether ESN and its affiliated members comply with the EU’s foundational values, citing multiple areas of potential violation supported by extensive documentation.

ESN is led by Bulgarian MEP Stanislav Stoyanov, who also chairs the party. Other Bulgarian members of the group include MEPs Petar Volgin and Rada Laikova. The party leadership told investigators that, to their knowledge, none of the three had taken part in the activities cited in the report.
