A 21-year-old petrol attendant at Shell Zevenwacht Mall said helping a mother give birth has reaffirmed his lifelong dream of becoming a paramedic, after months of battling financial hardship and contemplating whether he should abandon his ambitions.

The young man, who lives alone in Blue Downs, has long dreamed of working in emergency medical services, inspired by a desire to help people during some of the most critical moments of their lives.

Growing up, he witnessed the difference that a single person could make during an emergency, particularly in communities where access to assistance was not always readily available.

That passion eventually led him to seek a career in paramedicine, but the road has been anything but easy.
