The hygiene risks posed by urban pigeons have once again become a concern for the public.
Recently, videos showing pigeons pecking at street foods such as egg bread, chicken skewers and sausages displayed at roadside stalls have spread across online communities and social media, sparking debate over the cleanliness of street food.
Under Korea's Food Sanitation Act, food must be stored and displayed in a hygienic manner to prevent contamination. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety also recommends that cooked foods be covered to prevent foreign substances from getting into them.
