The company said the project positions India as an emerging hub for hyperscale AI infrastructure. The Jamnagar facility will be powered by renewable energy and cooled using desalinated seawater, RIL added.According to RIL, Gujarat offers key advantages for large-scale data centre development, including access to renewable energy, water resources, submarine cable landing stations on India's western coast and the extensive fibre network of Reliance Jio.RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani described the partnership as a "transformative moment" for India's digital infrastructure."At Reliance, we are committed to building world-class digital infrastructure that will power the next generation of AI innovation – not just for India, but for the world. Jamnagar will become a landmark destination for hyperscale AI computing," Ambani said.Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO, Meta, said, that the facility would help scale Meta's global AI infrastructure while deepening its long-term investment in the Indian economy. Also read: Meta partners with Reliance to lease 168 MW AI data centre in JamnagarIn a parallel announcement, Meta and Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited said they have expanded their renewable energy partnership in India to more than 900 MW.As part of the latest agreement, CleanMax will develop and operate 837 MW of new solar and wind projects across the states of Rajasthan and Karnataka.Combined with previously announced projects the collaboration now represents over 900 MW of renewable energy capacity. CleanMax and Meta had in December 2022 signed an agreement for 33.8 Megawatt of renewable energy projects in India. In 2021 the companies had also signed an agreement for 32 MW of wind energy.Meta will purchase 100% of the environmental attributes generated by the projects, supporting its goal of matching its electricity consumption with clean and renewable energy while helping reduce emissions across its value chain, it said.CleanMax founder and managing director Kuldeep Jain said the partnership reflects the growing need to align expanding digital and AI infrastructure with clean energy development.Amanda Yang, Meta's Head of Clean and Renewable Energy, said,“These agreements represent meaningful progress in supporting our renewable energy goals in the region...and help bring new renewable energy capacity onto the grid in India and support the growth of the country's clean energy ecosystem.”Read More News on...moreless
