Google is lowering the cost of its cheapest AI subscription to make access to the Gemini models more accessible. The Google AI Plus plan now costs 5 euros per month instead of 8. Additionally, Google has doubled the storage space from 200 to 400 GB. Furthermore, another Plus tariff level has been added.
Google's AI plans are becoming confusing
The new Plus tariff was announced by Vikas Kansal, Google's Product Manager for Gemini AI subscriptions, on X. “Now you can unlock tools to boost your productivity and creativity - and get more space to store your photos, videos and projects - for less,” writes the Googler.
Google had only introduced the Plus subscription in January 2026 as a more affordable way to access Google's Gemini Pro model, Nano Banana Pro, and Deep Research. Previously, Google only offered these features as part of its more expensive AI Pro plan. However, the Plus plan offers smaller usage quotas compared to the more expensive Pro and Ultra plans. Also new is the AI-Plus tariff with 2 TB of cloud storage, which costs just under 10 euros per month.
At Google I/O, Google expanded its AI-Plus subscription with additional features such as AI-powered email tools and a “Daily Brief” agent that bundles important updates from Gmail, Calendar, and Gemini chats in the morning. However, both are currently only available in the USA. In Germany, subscribers can access Gemini Omni, Google's latest AI model for creating videos “from any input,” just like in the USA.
