Valentín Barco picked his moment. The 21-year-old Argentine defender unleashed a long-range strike in the 90+4 minute against Zambia on March 31, 2026, sealing his first senior international goal and capping a dominant 5-0 friendly victory at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires.
From Boca to Brighton to Strasbourg
Barco came through the academy at Boca Juniors and featured in the 2023 Copa Libertadores final before making the leap to European football. Brighton & Hove Albion secured his signature for a reported $10 million fee. Rather than keeping him on the south coast of England, the club opted to loan him to RC Strasbourg in France, where he’s been developing his game in Ligue 1.
Barco now has two senior caps for Argentina and one goal. He had previously represented the U23 squad before earning his call-up to the full team.
