FRISCO, Texas — This is the time of year when Dak Prescott is often asked about what he’s doing in the offseason to prepare for another year as the Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback.Following Tuesday’s organized team activities at The Star, he was asked if he has lost any weight.“Not really,” he responded. “Stress may help lose a little weight here and there.”Prescott smiled, which led to a reporter responding that he opened that door, referring to Prescott’s wedding being called off in March.“I’m going to shut it right now,” the Cowboys QB said with a laugh.Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos, who have two daughters together, got engaged in October 2024. They were scheduled to be married in Italy in April.Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said in April that he and Prescott were having several conversations and that Prescott was in a “really good spot.”“Obviously what he’s dealing with is incredibly tough,” Schottenheimer added at the time. “But if anyone can handle it, he can.”Prescott said after Tuesday’s interview session outside of the locker room that he didn’t feel the need to address anything further in regards to his wedding being called off.On the fieldPrescott has been working against his sixth different defensive coordinator of his 11-year NFL career: Rod Marinelli, Mike Nolan, Dan Quinn, Mike Zimmer, Matt Eberflus and now Christian Parker. What stands out so far?“A lot,” Prescott said. “Their DC, Christian Parker, I was excited when we got him. But now having spent time with him, having to compete against him, just his leadership, for one. You can feel it amongst each and every one of the position groups on defense. You can feel their intensity. Probably just going against them, their communication. When we motion or we make moves or calls, they’re as loud as we are, they’re echoing. A defense that communicates is usually a defense that’s sound. I’m just excited about that.“They’ve already made it hard on me. They’ve already made some of these practices very competitive. The trash talking, the energy has been high. It’s iron sharpens iron already, and I can tell you, it’s only going to get better. (Training camp) is going to be fun, and we’re going to make it tough on each other the best we can.”George PickensCowboys star wide receiver George Pickens has not been attending voluntary OTAs. The team expects him to attend mandatory minicamp next week. But no one has been told that for sure.“My conversations with George have been positive, just about life in general,” Schottenheimer said Tuesday. “I expect that he’ll be here. Hope and expect are the same thing. I can’t make anybody do something. But I expect that he’ll be here.”Prescott expects the same. The two had a few throwing sessions back around April.“They were great,” Prescott said. “George is George. He’s great. He’s awesome. His personality, excitement, his energy. He was consistent, consistent as it’s been, those times that I got to throw with him. And honestly, just even communicating with him through phone, as we have in these last couple of weeks, George is great. I’m excited about where he’s going to be. I’m excited about when he gets in and the work that we’re gonna have to build off of. But, yeah, George is George, and he is fine.”If Pickens does attend, he’s not expected to do everything. The last thing they want is for him to do too much, too fast and suffer an injury.“I would love for him to be in, but even if he’s in, I doubt that he’s going full, jumping in on the team (drills),” Prescott said. “I would hope not, to be honest. Just protecting him, being smart. Just hope he gets in, just to see some of the new guys, meet some of the new guys. I’m sure he’ll be in.”Jun 9, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern.
