The 2026 edition of The Research Science Initiative – Chennai (RSIC) organised by the PSBB Group of Schools in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and other institutions, was held from April 24 to June 3.The six-week residential programme, according to the press release, provided first-hand exposure to scientific research and brought together 37 students from 25 schools.The students attended advanced lectures and undertook independent research projects under the mentorship of scientists and academicians.As part of the programme, students visited SASTRA University, the Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), and the Saint-Gobain Glass Factory for interactive learning experiences. The evening extramural lecture series included experts from fields such as architecture, Artificial Intelligence, ecology, music, dance, theatre, and Harikatha.At the valedictory ceremony, Vijayalakshmi Srivatsan, Chief Coordinator of RSIC acknowledged the leadership of professors V. Balakrishnan and Mangala Sunder, as well as the dedicated efforts of Kesav Saranyan Krishnan and Arvind Rameshwar who served as conveners of the programmeChief Guest S. Sadagopan, founder president and Director of IIT-Bangalore; S. Subramanian, Adjunct Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras; Sheela Rajendra, Dean, Director, and Correspondent of the PSBB Group of Schools; also spoke.
