“Honestly, I have to say, it’s pretty magical,” said Zegna designer Alessandro Santori as he took out his phone to show me drone footage of his latest collection. Models walked down the Malibu Pier flanked by celebrities like Rami Malek and Mahershala Ali. The pier, constructed in 1905, was built to lift cattlehides onto boats for shipments and was used for charter fishing in the 1930s. But never for a fashion show — Santori and the brand started a relationship with the city, donating to rebuilding efforts after the Palisades fire in 2025, and were allowed to use it for one night. “I remembered this pier because it’s the only one that doesn’t have a lot of commercial activities,” he explained. “There’s that kind of vintage feeling that I like.”
