When the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off its expanded 48-team format across North America, one of its most lopsided matchups on paper will also be one of its most symbolic. Germany, four-time world champions and perennial contenders, will open their campaign against Curaçao on June 14, 2026, with a 13:00 CDT kickoff at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Germany is projected to deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation, while Curaçao is expected to line up in a 3-5-2 formation with three center-backs, five players in midfield, and two strikers.
