A new hotel is splashing down in Mallorca just in time for summer.
Mandarin Oriental is opening its first property on the Balearic Islands (and its third in Spain), marking its sole hotel debut in 2026. The new spot is perched right along the peninsula of Costa d’en Blanes, meaning you’ll have a cliffside perch to take in the Mediterranean and those crystal-clear blue waters.
And you’ll get direct access to the sea thanks to the property’s exclusive access to a pair of natural coves and white-sand beaches, with the famed Puerto Portals marina nearby, if you happen to have a superyacht in tow. The hotel immerses you even further into its surroundings with help from its seven acres of cliffside gardens. That focus on nature continues throughout the new Mandarin Oriental’s 131 guest rooms, including 26 suites and nine bungalows, that each have space dedicated to indoor-outdoor living. Madrid firm BG Arquitectura and interior designer Laura Gonzales teamed up to bring the accommodations to life, which are awash with warm, sand-colored hues and other touches inspired by Mallorca’s calming environment that has lured in many an artist for decades.
The new hotel is also aiming to become a culinary mecca in Mallorca. It’ll offer up six restaurants, each inspired by pieces of the island. First on the roster is Matsuhisa, a costal-dining spot that serves Japanese cuisine, sushi (with a dedicated sushi counter, too), and craft cocktails. Leña, meanwhile, will be helmed by chef Dani García, who will serve live-fire dishes at the steakhouse. Rounding out the restaurants are Jacinta, an upscale Mexican taqueria; Leppoc, where Spanish cuisine meets Levantine flavors with produce sourced right in the Balearic; Sobretaula, a seaside locale that focuses on Spanish-style tapas that turns into a nighttime hot spot with a DJ; and Thalos, a pool-side dining spot with Greek-inspired dishes.
