Ross Willox put himself through several early-morning wake ups on the other side of the world to tune in to Napier City Rovers’ run to Chatham Cup success in 2019.

Having played National League for Hawke’s Bay United and Central League for Napier City Rovers as a teen, Willox travelled

Two years later, and by then playing in Scotland – a three-season stint that saw him play in the third and fourth levels of the Scottish system – was waking in the early hours of the morning to watch as his former club went on to claim the 103-year-old Chatham Cup.

Seven years on - and back at the Bluewater Stadium-based club after eight years playing overseas - he is going all out to be part of another golden cup run in the club’s proud history.
