Skyrocketing diesel prices are putting pressure on South Africa’s forestry, landscaping and garden services sector

Skyrocketing diesel prices are putting pressure on South Africa’s forestry, landscaping and garden services sector, forcing companies to rethink how they run operations and manage costs.

According to Pieter Smuts, Managing Director of Husqvarna South Africa and Regional Manager for Africa, fuel has moved from a secondary expense to a key driver of operational decisions across the value chain.

He said the impact is being felt from forestry contractors and fleet operators through to municipalities and dealers, with rising fuel costs affecting everything from equipment use and servicing to transport logistics and service delivery schedules.

"Fuel is one of those costs that touches almost every part of the industry," he said.
