Police arrested one person for allegedly transporting ganja and seized nearly 53 kg of ganja (in 24 packets), along with a car and a mobile phone.Puttaparthi in-charge DSP Shiva Narayana Swamy said that acting on credible information about ganja being transported in a car towards Gorantla, special checks were conducted near Pulagampalli Cross on the Kadiri-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-716G).A car from Kadiri was stopped at the check-post, and upon inspection, the police found two bundles in the vehicle’s trunk. The police said they contained ganja, and the driver, B. Venkata Ramana, of Reddyvaripalli village in Nallamada Mandal, was taken into custody.During questioning, the accused revealed that the ganja was being transported on the instructions of a person, Mallikarjuna, who is currently absconding.
