Apple accuses the Commission of "extreme interpretation" of Digital Markets Act
Apple has blamed the bloc’s Big Tech rulebook for delaying a rollout of Siri AI to iPhones and iPads across the EU.
The tech giant announced a global rollout of the new AI-powered version of its virtual assistant on Monday, but blamed the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) for an EU-shaped hole in the deployment.
In a press statement, Apple also said that it could not provide a date for when the update would be made available in the EU.
The iPhone maker said it was not pushing out the software because the European Commission had not accepted proposed safeguards on DMA interoperability requirements that it claimed would have ensured “safely supporting other virtual assistants”.
