Jordan Henderson is one of Thomas Tuchel’s “untouchables.” And the veteran midfielder is already proving that he has not just gone to the World Cup as some sort of glorified cheerleader.

Henderson’s 37th birthday is on June 17 which is coincidentally the day England play Croatia in their Group L fixture. That makes him comfortably the oldest member of Tuchel’s 26 man squad and his experience, quality and leadership is vital within the group.

Tuchel spoke after England’s win over New Zealand about categorising different players. The 14 starters, the untouchables and leaders. Henderson is definitely among the latter two even if he will not start every game.

But Henderson also proved in England’s first warm-up friendly with New Zealand that he has something to offer on the pitch.
