The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed claims that a deadly attack at a private dredging site in Mowe was carried out by bandits, insisting that preliminary investigations indicate it was an isolated criminal incident.

In a statement issued, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said a soldier deployed to provide security at the dredging site was killed during the attack, while another soldier sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
According to the police, security operatives responded immediately after the incident was reported and launched a joint operation with military personnel to track down those responsible.
